Who we are
Glitch Cult is an international artist collective dedicated
to exploring error as art, distortion as language, and failure as form. Founded on the belief that glitches are more than technical mistakes—they are cultural signals, fragments
of memory, and acts of resistance—our collective brings together various artists from across the world to celebrate
and expand the aesthetics of digital disruption.
Through exhibitions, performances, workshops, and festivals, Glitch Cult creates spaces where the broken becomes beautiful, the unstable becomes expressive, and the unexpected becomes central. Our practice spans analog and digital media—ranging from VHS manipulation and pixel sorting to live coding, sound art, and experimental installation—always embracing
the unpredictable.
What we do
We are a network of experimentation and collaboration, seeing glitch not as an error to fix, but as a global dialogue of possibility.
Glitch Cult Festival is our annual gathering: a celebration of fractured aesthetics, community exchange, and creative misalignment. It is a temporary space where artists, audiences, and machines meet in unpredictable ways. Over four days, the festival features exhibitions, workshops, talks, concerts, and performances that expand the language of glitch across borders.
The organizing committee consists of faded code, terrafold, glitchy pixels, ex2.fc, stylelessknave and szamøca in collaboration with AKC ATTACK. The exhibition will take place at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla, and Medika.
What does an error look like?
How can an error be visually represented?
Glitch art is the answer to that question, an aesthetic born from disruption. It refuses to be anchored.
A damaged microSD card slowly corrupting its content, the result of software manipulating unsupported files, an old camera lens whose glass deterioration causes streaks and imperfections, these are only a fragment of the possibilities where disruption can affect normality.
As the years have gone by, we began to recognize primordial traces of glitch art throughout history. Multiple-exposure photography, scratched film strips, and painted celluloid reels were all unconventional tools, glitching before the term "glitch" even existed.
As time unfolds, new opportunities for glitches continue to emerge, each technological shift offering fresh terrain for disruption. Artificial Intelligence in particular, promises infinite new frontiers. Whether analog or digital, hardware or software, emulated or stumbled upon, glitch art thrives wherever curiosity meets chaos. Its exploration knows no limits.
Across the globe, artists and experimenters continue to push boundaries, driven by curiosity, intuition, and a desire to unearth new forms of expression. Glitch art is a living philosophy, destined to evolve and intertwine past, present, and future.
GlitchCult understands glitch as a way of being: more than visuals, more than theory, its a practice of embracing chaos and finding meaning in the unexpected.
The collective is home to a diverse community of glitch practitioners, including:
